APPLICATION PROCEDURES

Registration for Ijaazah Program - Register by downloading and completing the Ijaazah Registration Form, and by paying the $10.00 Registration fee. Students who wish to take individual courses may do so by filling out a separate registration form for each course

Students registering for the Ijaazah program will be required to complete the Ijaazah Registration Form, as well as a Course Registration Form for each individual course. Registering in the Ijaazah program will allow students a discounted rate for each individual course (see the Fees section).

Students who do not wish to register for the Ijaazah program will be required to complete a Course Registration Form for each individual Course taken. All registration forms must be submitted with payment by the registration deadline advertised.

Student Registration Fee
A one-time non-refundable registration fee for all students is $10.00. This student registration will enable students to have a unique Student ID card for easy identification and retrieval of student information, and which can be used towards discounts at specified extra-curricular activities, merchandise and other services offered by the IIT.

Late Course Registration
Submission of registration form after the starting of the academic session will be considered as late registration and there will be an additional $5 charged. There will be no registration after the 15th day of the academic session.

Credit Hours and Tuition Fee
The Academic Year is divided into four quarters or semesters (a three-month period). Each quarter is equivalent to One Credit Hour. For courses that take up two semesters
(i.e. 6 months), the equivalent will be Two Credit Hours; similarly, courses that take three semesters to complete will have Three Credit Hours.

The fee for each Quarter/Semester or One Credit Hour is $100.00. The initial semester (March -June 2007) is an extended semester, with approximately 20 sessions and will be equivalent to two credit hours; however the fee will remain the same ($100.00)

Discounts in the Tuition Fee
Discounts in tuition fees will be considered in the following situations:

Student: Those who are full time students* will get a 25% discount in tuition fee. There will be a further 10% discount if a group of five or more students register and pay the tuition fees as a group; a further 15% discount if a group of ten and more students register and pay tuition fees as a group. A list of all names of applicants must be sent through an e-mail to IIT and after approval the discounted tuition fee will be applied.
*Must provide proof as a full-time student in a college or university.

Non-Student: Those who are not full time students, and do not fall in the Family category below, will receive a discount of 10% if two or more register and pay the tuition fees; a 15% discount if five or more register and pay the tuition fees as a group and a 25% discount if ten or more register and pay the tuition fees as a group. A list of all names of applicants must be sent through an e-mail to IIT, and after approval the discounted tuition fee will be applied.

Family: If a second person is enrolled from the same family there will be a discount of 15%; for a third person: 20%; for a fourth person: 30%; for a fifth and above: 40% each.

Ijaazah Student: Anyone who has registered in the Ijaazah program and does not fall within any of the abovementioned categories will be granted a 15% discount for every subsequent course taken in the program.

Free Courses: A limited number of courses will be offered free of charge for those who have registered in the Ijaazah program.

Payment Mode
All payments must be in Canadian dollars at the time of registration. Payment may be made by cheque via mail or by cash or cheque at the IITs Office.

Payment Plan
There is a payment plan available for those who cannot pay the entire tuition fee in one installment. Such students may pay their tuition fee on a monthly basis e.g. $50 per month, before the end of each month, with the entire amount payable before the end of the semester.

Financial Assistance
There is limited financial assistance in tuition fees available to the deserving and eligible students. The students who are seeking financial assistance should fill out the financial assistance form and submit it at least two weeks before the beginning of each quarter.

Scholarship Fund
The IIT will establish a scholarship fund and provide scholarships to eligible students. Details of the scholarship process, application and eligibility will be provided at a later time.

Grade Point Average (GPA)
An instructor, after evaluating the student based on attendance, performance in tests, quizzes and assignments, will grant a student a grade point average reflecting the students progress. Any disagreements with the Grade Point Average must be communicated in writing to Student Affairs Department, IIT, 1630 Neilson Rd., Toronto, ON.

Withdrawal from Courses
Students may apply to withdraw from a course that they have already registered for with a 75% tuition refund if the withdrawal takes place before the first two weeks into the course. No refund will be given for withdrawals after the first two weeks of any given course.

Attendance Requirement
Students are required to attend all lectures, tutorials, seminars, etc. of courses that they have registered for. Attendance of 80% is necessary to allow a student to take the final examinations of the quarter.

ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF A STUDENT

Academic Performance
Students are required to maintain a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) minimum of 2.00 to remain on good academic standing. A student who obtains a CGPA below 2.00 but above 1.07 will be put on probation. A student on probation will not be allowed to carry more than two courses in the subsequent quarter.

Academic Integrity
In keeping with its philosophy and objectives, the IIT seeks to promote a strong sense of mutual responsibility, respect, trust, and fairness among all members of the IIT community. Towards this end, the IIT demands the highest standards of academic behavior at all times. Students are expected to show integrity and competence in their academic work. Members of the IIT community are presumed to be familiar with proper academic procedures and are held responsible for applying them. Incoming students have a special responsibility to acquaint themselves with and make use of all proper procedures for doing research, writing papers, and taking examinations. A student in doubt concerning an academic matter should consult with the Management Board.

Student Conduct
Each student is responsible for knowing the rules, regulations, procedures, academic and disciplinary policies of the IIT. He/she is expected to behave in accordance with Islamic values and the rules and regulations of the IIT.

Intellectual Property
Please note that all handouts, lectures recorded in audio format or any other educational material distributed by the IIT and its instructors are the intellectual property of the IIT and its instructors and are meant for personal use. No public dissemination will be allowed except by authorization from the IIT. The IIT reserves the right to video a course or use any other similar technology, and to use video editing software to create marketing tools for the IITs education programs.
